what is wma

WMA is an audio file format developed by Microsoft, the maker of Windows and Windows Media Player.

It may not be as popular as MP3, but it is still supported by a vast number of players and jukeboxes, including Windows Media Player (of course!), Winamp and MusicMatch. It is also supported by a number of portable audio devices.

WMA is basically a lossy compression format, and offers an integrated support to DRM Technology, so it is suitable for publishing copy-protected audio files.
